Job Description
The Planning and Policy Analysis Division is currently seeking a graduate student in planning, public policy, urban studies, organization development or a related field to work part-time supporting project teams addressing critical national transportation issues. Examples of potential assignments include: helping to develop communications, outreach, stakeholder management, training and technical assistance guidance, tools, and programs to improve transportation planning and decision-making; coordinating, managing and documenting outreach events, such as expert roundtables, peer-to-peer exchanges; developing databases of planning information, training resources or policy guidelines; conducting research and writing newsletters on strategies and practices for improving transportation project delivery without compromising environmental protection; mapping and analyzing business processes to highlight areas for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness; and helping to conduct assessments of the effectiveness of transportation programs and organizations.
Qualification Requirements: Candidates for this Student Employment position must be a student who has been accepted for enrollment, or who is enrolled, as a degree seeking student in an accredited graduate or professional school, studying an appropriate field of study (i.e. urban/community planning, policy analysis, etc.). Student currently enrolled must be taking at least a half-time academic course load in the appropriate field of study. Looking for analytical, critical thinkers with excellent writing and speaking skills. Must be a self-starter, and also able to work on project teams. Transportation-related experience or coursework a plus. Potential for full-time work after graduation.
